For those who want to take a more hands-on approach to customizing the look of their pen, it also comes with a sheet of sandpaper that you can use to intentionally remove some or all of black coating. To extend the pen tip, press down on the end cap and rotate it clockwise. When you have finished writing, rotate the end cap counter-clockwise to retract the pen tip.
